The Next 3 Months
Advent of Code, Call for Speakers & Sponsors, Polyglot Project & Post Schedule
Good afternoon everyone! You probably noticed a slow down in the post schedule over the last couple of months. Honestly, I just needed a little post-conference breather before getting back into the swing of things.
Here’s a quick look at everything you can expect to see between now at the end of January!
Tonight is the Quarterly HG Nights Meetup
If you’re in the area and can make it out to the HG Nights event I’d highly recommend it. Check the Announcement on Meetup to register and get more details. There will be good food, community and 4 talks including…
Caleb McQuaid | Encore! Encore! | A brief introduction to a new, scalable backend framework.
Barry Jones (yep, that’s me) | Story Points are Pointless, Measure Queues | A fun lightning talk version of his recent blog post
Heather Bowes | Running a House Off an Electric Car | My demonstration of running several appliances at home during Hurricane Helene off my base model Tesla without voiding the warranty.
Brian Kennedy | Project-based IaC, You're Doing IaC Wrong | Part 2 - Tools and Quality
We’re sponsoring tonight too! Check it out!
UPDATE: You can watch all of the talks on YouTube!
Posting Will Pick Back Up Next Week
Starting next week we’ll get back on our regular posting schedule, including some new episodes of the Carolina Code Cast, thank you posts featuring our 2024 sponsors and details about various upcoming activities including…
Advent of Code 2024
Last year we had a great Advent of Code event where we were able to setup a private board for you to participate in 25 days of coding challenges. Participants will have the opportunity to win tickets to the 2025 Carolina Code Conference and maybe some additional prizes too! Maybe learn a new language while you do it too?
You can read about last year’s event here and we even have a great podcast episode with Eric Burden where he talks about his great annual experiences with the event!
Polyglot Project
Thanks to our awesome sponsors Fly.io and Codegiant.io, we have the tools that we need to build and deploy our polyglot site project for the conference. If you have any interest in participating let me know and I’ll add you to the chat room for the project on our Zulip instance.
Call for Sponsors
We will have our 2025 Call for Sponsors with details and availability ready very soon. If your company is interested in supporting this event and community in 2025, be on the lookout! Rates for each level are expected to be very similar to 2024 with some minor tweaks. If you have feedback on the 2024 packages that you would like us to consider for changes in 2025, please feel free to reach out via sponsor@carolina.codes.
Call for Speakers
Our 2025 Call for Speakers will open in early January 2025 and run through late March. Stay tuned for the announcement. We expect a very similar number of speaking slots to be available to the 2024 event. Be on the lookout!
Stay Tuned
That’s about it and we hope to see you tonight at HG Nights! Thank you all for continuing to make this event so much fun!
