When the conference ends, we hope most event attendees will spend some time with their new friends enjoying an evening in downtown Greenville. To better facilitate that, we’re trying to provide some options as well and since everything about this conference is being planned in public, we need your input.

Coworking space OpenWorks has reserved all of their meeting space the evening after the conference, which is also a popular location for local meetup groups to gather. There will be several large tables, screens, a kitchenette. It’s also conveniently in the building right next to the conference venue.

Activity Ideas

Outside of OpenWorks, there’s also plenty to do in downtown Greenville so we’d like your input on what type of activities interest you? Here’s a few ideas that have already been tossed around. Feel free to add more ideas in the comments section too!

Escape Rooms

An Escape Room @ Escape Artist
An Escape Room @ Escape Artist

If you love puzzles you’re probably no stranger to Escape Rooms. Greenville has two local spots downtown with Escape Artist and Breakout. Both provide a number of entertaining options for you and your new friends to work together get out before the clock runs out.

Game Night at OpenWorks

It turns out, this is a fairly popular post-programming conference activity. With lots of table space at OpenWorks it could be a fun option too. There’s something for everybody to enjoy.

  • Card games like Poker, Spades or even Magic the Gathering

  • Word games like Taboo, Scattergories or Blank Slate

  • Board games like Monopoly, Cataan, Risk or Trivial Pursuit

  • Even tabletop games like D&D

If this seems more your speed, let us know your preferences in the comments!

Hackathon at OpenWorks

Think you’ll be feeling inspired after listening to our speakers all day? Want to code out some energy on something useful? Maybe a Hackathon is the right option for you?

HackGreenville Labs cultivates a lot of API accessible data for our area. Maybe you’ll want to hook into that with some friends and see what you can come up with? Maybe you’d like to do something entirely different. There are no rules!

Axe Throwing or Minigolf at Group Therapy

It’s hard to have a bad time throwing an axes. Group Therapy in downtown Greenville offers a ton of entertaining options for you to enjoy with your new friends while you eat. Here’s an except from their website.

Group Therapy is a pub and playground offering experiential entertainment and the first and only indoor venue to offer an 18 hole wacky mini golf course, ice curling, ping pong, axe throwing, and tons of backyard games.

Comedy Dinner Show

Looking for great laughs and a full belly? Both Cafe and Then Some and The Comedy Zone provide dinner and a show options all weekend long. Check out our previous post for details on the performances.
