Alright everybody, things are finally rolling here. Many of you are probably wondering where to get tickets for the 2024 Carolina Code Conference after we announced that they were “coming very soon” in our April 17th update. In that post we alluded to something…
We’re working out some final details on an activity during the conference that will need to be included in the ticket purchase.
That activity is finally ready. We’ve booked Cafe and Then Some, Greenville’s own Comedy Dinner Theater, for Friday August 23rd after the first day of this year’s conference!
The venue capacity is 100 seats, so those who wish to attend will have to purchase a $25 ticket for the show at the time that you order your conference ticket. It will be shown as an add-on option. We will be passing along the dietary restrictions that you specify with your conference ticket selection as well. The $25 ticket covers the show itself. You’ll order dinner from the menu separately at the table.
We have been holding off on starting the early access tickets while we worked to get this activity confirmed and now that is has been, we can get the tickets rolling next. If you won tickets during our Advent of Carolina Code challenge, will receive tickets as a speaker or a sponsor those will begin distribution next week as well. General availability tickets will be available one month later!
Evening Activities
If you attended the 2023 Carolina Code Conference, you may remember that we tried multiple options for evening activities after the event. We’re all in technology and with the spirit of that, we do a lot of experimenting to see what works.
Initial polls confirmed that y’all definitely want after conference activities. We broke it down further and came up with several options based on polling for Escape Rooms, Axe Throwing, a Hackathon, a Game Night and lastly a comedy dinner show.
After talking to a lot of people since the conference ended though, one thing became very clear…the vast majority of people just wanted to go where everybody else went. Although breaking into 5 different activities did lead to some good times, it didn’t work out as well as we would have liked. A compounding factor was that last year we had a single day event, so Saturday evening…the conference was over and a lot of people just went home, ate dinner and called it a night.
This year with a two day event and our activities planned for the evening in between, we’re expecting a much bigger turn out. The Cafe and Then Some dinner and comedy show will be a great option for a lot of our attendees and it won’t start until later in the evening around 8pm, which will leave plenty of time for some other yet-to-be-announced activities / networking opportunities too.
We’re hoping to set things up so that we make sure to provide good central options for people to stick with a large main group if they would like to, because you can always take a few of your new friends to find any number of other activities.
After all, it’s Friday night in downtown Greenville. There’s no shortage of opportunities. Stay tuned!
